Out of it ("De weg kwijt") is an educational boardgame about the risks and effects of drugs. The game was conceptualized by Mirte Becker and myself.
Each turn, a player rolls the die, moves forward the number of spaces indicated by the throw and is then able to play ('use') a drug-card. Each card has 6 possible outcomes, and the more dangerous drugs have more negative outcomes. The worst outcome is to get 'out of it' - getting a bad trip or losing consiousness. The result the drug-use has is indicated by another throw of the die ('risk'). If the player is 'out of it', the player is repositioned to a place on the board that's extremely hard to leave.
There are many other things that affect drug-use, for example friends or events. Several fields on the board represent these opportunities.
The winner is the first player to lose all cards and reach the starting field.
While the final execution and visualisation of the board was not in my hands, the concept remained very much intact and was one of the most powerful and fun games presented.
